Ash Bhula

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Geochemistry, Ash entered the world of banking where he held senior positions for ten years. This time in Global Banking and Financial Markets provided him a strong foundation when embarking on a career in executive search.
Now going on 25 years working closely with top tier clients and executives throughout New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, South East Asia, Hong Kong, Greater China and North Asia, Ash has developed an intimate understanding of the dynamic and complex interrelationships that exist Pan-Asia.
Most recently with Korn/Ferry International, Ash enjoyed 20 years across a range of positions. He ran the Asia Pacific Financial Services practice for the Futurestep arm, then moved to Singapore where he built a specialist Asia Pacific Global Markets business for Korn/Ferry. After leading the New Zealand executive search practice for eight years, Ash and his wife headed for the bright lights of Hong Kong where he led the Asian region in Corporate and Institutional Banking as well as Risk & Compliance.
Regarded as an industry veteran, Ash has successfully delivered multiple C-suite assignments, Non-Executive Directorships, Chairmanship appointments, as well as Regional and Country Head positions.
Ash is a proud Kiwi and happily married to Julia with two adult children. In his down time, you’ll find him in the kitchen producing delicious food for friends and family, watching Rugby, or exercising - being an avid swimmer and 15-year yoga enthusiast.

After completing her business studies, Julia spent several years in the legal industry as Executive Assistant / Paralegal to Corporate Litigation Partners across boutique and listed law firms in Sydney and London. She then entered the executive search world as a Project Coordinator in Industrial and Energy Markets while studying her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Moving to New Zealand in 2011, Julia remained in the Energy sector where she worked for a listed company in Human Resources before an opportunity to pursue her creative side in Brand & Marketing Communications presented itself. During this time she undertook studies with the Marketing Association and as Marketing Executive worked on branding, above and below the line advertising campaigns and customer marketing communications. Julia and Ash moved to Hong Kong where she launched her business and fashion brand, Tribe of Sunday. She continues to manage her business as she works alongside Ash, utilising her experience in the business world to support the ongoing research and communications for Lighthouse Search.
